Memorial Service. St. Margaret’s, Westminster - London, England.
Karin returned to London in the Autumn of 2007 to decorate the parish church of England’s Parliament, just steps from Westminster Abbey and Big Ben.The challenge was to make an already beautiful 15th century church more lovely still. The commission brought with it a new experience for Karin – the rigours of working in what proved to be, given the location and guest list, a high security environment. The occasion was a memorial service to honour the life and works of a highly respected English Baron, the nation’s longest serving parliamentarian. This was more a celebration than an occasion for mourning.
Flowers chosen to complement the church’s colourful interior and both the (1940s) south, and (19th century) north windows were worked into stunning arrangements and garlands at a south London location before being transported to the church for the service.
